when people talk about travel, it’s always like Bali this, Hawaii that, Europe blah blah…
But girl, I just discovered a place that is actually insane.
Like, why did nobody tell me North Macedonia has a town called Ohrid that looks straight out of a fantasy movie!?
I swear, Japanese gals don’t know about this place yet, but I’m here to change that.
Because Ohrid is literally too cute to be real. Let me spill all the tea. ♡
First off, Lake Ohrid is unreal.
The water is so clear you’d think it’s filtered IRL.
Like you look at it and go, “Wait… can I actually drink this?”
It sparkles like crazy when the sunlight hits it—no filters, no apps, no editing needed.
If you post it on Insta, expect at least ten “Where is this!?” DMs from your girls.
I officially declare it: the gal aesthetic lake of the Balkans.
And the town? Ugh, adorable.
White houses with warm terracotta roofs stacked up on hills, all facing that sparkling lake.
Walking around feels like you’ve stepped into the prettiest postcard ever made.
Even if you’re exhausted or jet-lagged, the vibe heals your soul in like five seconds.
If you go, you must visit the Church of St. John at Kaneo.
It sits on this dramatic cliff overlooking the lake, and the view is honestly illegal.
Take a pic there at sunset and boom—you’ve got your new profile photo for the next 3 years.
It’s that gorgeous.
I almost cried, but like, in a cute way.
The best part?
Ohrid is stylish but not overly touristy.
There are chic cafés and cute restaurants, but the town still feels authentic and relaxed.
The locals are super kind, prices are shockingly cheap, and the food is soooo good.
I had grilled fish by the lake and nearly ascended to heaven.
In Japan this would cost like triple, not even kidding.
Oh and shopping? Don’t worry girl, I got you.
Ohrid is famous for Ohrid Pearls, these handmade traditional pearls you won’t see anywhere else.
The designs are actually adorable, not granny-ish, and super affordable.
Perfect souvenirs for your besties—100% they’ll ask “Where did you get this!?”
And the nights… omg.
The lake glows softly, the whole town feels like a romantic movie set, and suddenly you’re like,
“Why am I single right now???”
Even without a boyfriend, it’s the perfect place to sit at a lakeside café, sip something cute, and just vibe.
Total soul-healing energy.
Real talk though:
Ohrid is the town that matches a gal’s heart.
It’s sparkly, pretty, chill, emotional, photogenic, affordable, and full of sweet people.
Every corner has that “This needs to go on Instagram immediately” energy.
Time moves slower, and you actually feel your stress melt away.
Honestly babe, life is short—go to Ohrid at least once.
You’ll come back a changed woman, telling everyone “Ohrid, you HAVE to go,” like it’s your new personality.
